Wine Gift Baskets: Not just for the avid wine lover

Wednesday, March 17th, 2010

Not everyone is a connoisseur of wine but does enjoy the occasional sip at dinner or a party. For those of you who are going to a housewarming party or even a birthday party why not give the gift of wine? This is sure to be a great way to break in a new home and make wonderful new friends with your neighbors.

Wine gift baskets are the best option for someone to celebrate with not just because wine tastes great but because it brings people together. Everyone loves to share a little sip and relax while trying to make new friends. You could put all sorts of things in the basket like gourmet sausages, strawberries, a pair of gorgeous wine glasses, or even use a wine chiller as the basket itself.

Who wouldn’t love to have this gift on the day of opening their home to friends and neighbors? By far this is the  most popular gift to give to anyone to show them all the different types of wines there are and to let them know someone cares.

50th Birthday gifts that go somewhere: Activity Baskets

Thursday, December 3rd, 2009

A great 50th birthday gift is hard to come by. A great, cheap 50th birthday gift is even harder to find. But as the old cliche‚ goes, if you want something done right, you have to do it yourself.  Enter the birthday basket!

A birthday basket makes a great gift for any occasion, but particularly a 50th birthday. Too many people give books or movies or sweaters for their friends’ 50th. When giving someone a 50th birthday gift, even if it’s someone you hardly know, you want to give them something that they can’t use if they’re sitting down or staying in the house. Being 50 is about beginning a new and exciting chapter in one’s life, so one unique and meaningful 50th birthday gift to give is an activity basket.

Activity baskets are centered around some sort of activity.  If you’re making one for a golfer, you could include a gift certificate for a round of play and some other small items like balls or tees. For a movie basket, you might either give a theater gift certificate and some candy and snacks or a DVD and some microwave popcorn, etc. You get the idea.

It’s a good idea, if you know the person, to tailor an activity basket to his or her interests or hobbies. A gardener might not go gaga over a monster truck evening basket, for example. If you don’t know the person, aim for things that pretty much all of us like-food is always a good default. Assemble a restaurant- or cooking/baking-themed basket, since we all like to eat. If you’re going to go that route, at least try to find out if the giftee has any dietary restrictions or allergies. The main thing is to make it something fun and exciting-there’s nothing boring about being 50, so there should be nothing boring about your 50th birthday gift, either!

Shopping for Men for Valentine’s Day

Monday, November 23rd, 2009

Men can be so tough to get gifts for Valentines Day. Whenever someone asks what we want, most of the time the answer is nothing or don’t know, don’t care. So how does a girl turn that cloudiness into a tangible loving gift? Here are some gift ideas for your male significant other.

First, a sports based gift is always a plus. If he is a golfer, some of his favorite golf balls, or maybe even a new iron or wedge would be good. Other sports items include tickets to their favorite teams sporting event, and not to mention, he will probably take you with him. Another gift idea is a new Ipod or other music player. There are so many out there now that you can get any color you want, personalize it with engraving, and due to the flooding, the price is not that much either! Another type of gift would be a movie gift basket. This basket could benefit the both of you. It can include some of your favorite DVD or Blu Ray discs, as well as some movie tickets for you two to go see the newest movies in the theater. Shopping for a guy doesn’t have to be hard!

Holiday Cheers Gift Basket…A Way To A Mans Heart

Wednesday, November 4th, 2009

Whenever I think of my dad and the way to his heart, I think of getting him a gift basket so that after the holiday when he is sitting alone, he can enjoy his gift.    I can just hear him say, “And what do we have here?”  Carefully he will open the cellophane on the Holiday Cheers Gift Basket.  Out will come the crackers and cheese, and then he will stand up and go to the kitchen for a wine glass and small plate.  When he comes back he will pour some of the wine, cut some cheese and sit back to enjoy his feast. He will have a hard time deciding what to eat next or what to save for tomorrow.  The pastry cookies and the Ghirardelli dark chocolate squares will be saved for later. He will eat slowly and then pick up the phone to call me and tell me how much he loves me and enjoys this gift.   He will remind me that he always looks forward to items that tickle his taste buds.  I will instantly know he is thinking of the smoked almonds when he says that.  It will bring tears to my eyes to know how much he cares.

This is a terrific gift for any man that likes snacks.  It is probably equivalent to the Halloween haul that a ten year old looks forward to.  It is a treasured gift that the recipient can enjoy alone or share with someone special.  Be sure to give this gift every year to make it a holiday custom unique to you and the one you love.

How to Find Appropriate Gift Baskets while Holiday Shopping

Wednesday, October 21st, 2009

The task of Christmas shopping can be a daunting endeavor for anyone, especially when dealing with financial restrictions.  While the traditional idea of a holiday gift basket might conjure up images of Grandma’s stale fruitcake, there are, in fact, several attractive and contemporary holiday gift baskets available on the market today.

The first step when choosing on a good Christmas present for men, women or kids is to focus on that person’s interests.  There are a wide variety of gift baskets available, even for people with special dietary needs.  There are gluten free, sugar free, or Kosher gift baskets, and even gift baskets with no food at all.  These can range from useful baskets of car detailing supplies, luxurious bath gels, to perfumes, fragrances, and even pajamas.  So choose something that you think your special someone will appreciate and recognize the thought that you put into the gift.

Gift baskets can be presented in person, but many websites offer special drop ship delivery where your gift recipient will take direct delivery of the gift at their doorstep.  This is great for family members or loved ones who live across state lines, or even in other countries.  You can even have the option of writing your own personalized card and delivering it with the basket.

The best part about selecting a gift basket is that it contains a variety of smaller gifts all wrapped up into one.  Not sure what fragrance someone wears?  Just get them a sampler pack of various perfumes or colognes, giving them the ability to try them all and choose their favorite.  Variety is the spice of life, and it’s no different when it comes to giving gifts.

Gift baskets aren’t just for Christmas, however.  There are many gift baskets which focus on special occasions, such as bridal showers, birth of a baby, birthday presents, anniversaries, even graduation.  So don’t be afraid to get creative.  Hand pick a basket that contains the perfect mix of special items to let your recipient know that you care.

For a great housewarming gift, consider a wine gift basket.  These baskets often include a sample pack of various wines from around the world, as well as delicious cheeses and gourmet crackers to go alongside them.  For the health conscious, nothing can be a classic basket made up of fresh fruits.  These are made fresh and guaranteed to delight.

No matter what your budget, there’s a gift basket that will fit it.  From simple chocolate all the way to expensive champagne, the variety provided from a gift basket is the surefire way to come up with a great gift that can be shared with friends and relatives.

So this holiday season, don’t shy away from this classic gift.  You just might find that you can find a modern spin on an old favorite that will perfectly suit your needs.  Do some shopping and come up with an idea that’s sure to be opened and enjoyed right there on the spot.  You can’t say the same for that pair of wool socks that have been sitting in the closet since the Nixon era!

“Cruisin” Gift - Gifts For Men

Friday, January 23rd, 2009

You can almost hear the ocean when this woody wagon pulls up to your door. This classic has been miniaturized and loaded with the good stuff. Unfortunately most people won’t be able to hitch it to the beach on this wagon, but they can have an awesome piece of nostalgia to use as a desk caddy, tool holder or great accent piece. Overtime the woody wagon was viewed as the surfer’s car and this miniature grabs just a little of that wonderful spirit.

The excitement surrounding the woody is present here in the “Cruisin’” gift set. The woody comes ready for a picnic at the beach to their door. Loaded down not with surfboards, but with summer sausage, gourmet crackers, biscotti, coffee, cheese spread, and the matching woody cheese spreader seen above.  From Hollywood royalty to free-wheeling surfers to everyone with an eye for craftsmanship the woody is a beloved automobile from our collective history.
